Sudden Athertonians Group Publicity

[Posted by Moderator:  Our Athertonians group has made sudden appearances in both the Daily Post and the Almanac.  We did not seek this publicity.  Someone else with considerably more newspaper clout than we made this happen! Posting these to enable commenting.]

Definition of Athertonians: residents of Atherton, California. Simple, right? Think again.

Athertonians is also the name of a Yahoo email message group that hosts discussions among Atherton residents -- a moderated group whose posters have become increasingly critical of certain City Council members and decisions.

The group, which has a blog at athertonians.blogspot.com, has come under the recent scrutiny of town officials, who say that the group's name is causing too much confusion among Atherton residents. That's because the town has for many years published a newsletter, also available online, called the Athertonian.

    Slowly word gets out, on how the Atherton Council majority operates.

    Last week they disband the General Plan committee, which would have reviewed the library in the park and the real estate transfer tax.

    This week they form a new committee to study and recommend the real estate transfer tax.

    Does anyone know what year ACIL 'turned over' "The Athertonian" to the Town? I believe it was long after this group was formed.
